About the Lab

PhotoEC Lab at the Faculty of Chemistry, Jagiellonian University develops advanced materials for solar energy conversion, electrocatalysis, and energy storage. Our research combines advanced electrochemical methods with operando synchrotron spectroscopy to understand and engineer functional materials for sustainable energy technologies.

Research Areas

Electrocatalysis:
Development of efficient catalysts for oxygen evolution, oxygen reduction, and energy conversion reactions.

Photoelectrochemistry:
Solar-driven charge generation and interfacial processes for sustainable fuel and chemical production.

Advanced Materials Characterization:
In situ, operando, and synchrotron-based methods to understand structure–property relationships.

Current Research Project

SONATA BIS 13

Design and Engineering of 3DOM OER/ORR Electrocatalysts for PV-Integrated Photo-Rechargeable Zinc–Air Batteries

Funded by the National Science Centre (NCN), Poland.
